YouTube’s transition into a full-blown Web-TV service is paying off big time. Ever since they transitioned into allowing longer, professional shows and TV-style “Channels”, users are staying longer. In fact, users who are on the video site stay for an average of 418 minutes a month! That’s 7 hours – which is light compared to some of our “staffers”.

Jimmy Kimmel has another feather to put in his cap – he’s going to host the 64th Emmy Awards this year. It’s not that big a surprise, since the awards will be on ABC – Jimmy’s network home. But he’s got plenty of experience. He’s hosted the AMAs and the ESPYs in the past, and is set to host the White House Correspondents Dinner next month.

Movie audiences were definitely “hungry” this past weekend. “The Hunger Games” exceeded even the most optimistic projections and brought in $155 million . That makes it the third-biggest opening of all time, behind only the final Harry Potter film and The Dark Knight. The silver lining is that the Hunger Games has earned the distinction of having the biggest weekend haul for a movie that ISN’T a sequel.

Cocaine use and heart disease were responsible for pop diva Whitney Houston’s death, according to the LA County Coroner. The report says that she had a cardiac event, complicated by cocaine use, which led to her slipping underwater in a bathtub. The coroner went on to say that the cocaine use happened in a time period just prior to Houston’s death.

They call it March Madness, but something tells me broadcasters are anything BUT mad at the ratings. The latest from Nielsen says Saturday’s college basketball games earned their highest numbers in 21 years. That’s a 15 percent increase from a mere two years ago. The games averaged a very healthy 8 million viewers, which were spread out across CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTV.

A Russian oil tanker has arrived carrying anti-terrorist troops to Syria. Details surrounding the marines’ arrival in the port of Tartus are vague, but their presence is being interpreted as an obvious show of support for the current Syrian regime. Russia’s defense minister has denied that the troops are part of a special operations group, and instead says they are military and technical advisors.

Things have gotten a lot less LUCKY for ‘Luck.’ The HBO horse racing series, which stars Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte, has suddenly been canceled after the death of yet another horse. In fact this was the THIRD horse fatality in the last several months. With mounting pressure from animal rights groups, HBO had clearly had enough.

Reporters Without Borders has released its annual ‘Enemies of the Internet’ list. Coming out on top are Bahrain and Belarus for blocking web sites and arresting bloggers critical of government activities. A couple of Western nations also made the cut. Australia for introducing a mandatory web filtering system, and France for suspending the accounts of users convicted of illegal downloading.

For a fourth straight day, Israeli airstrikes pounded the Gaza strip, injuring at least 40 people. Israel says they’re targeting rocket launching sites as more than one-hundred have been fired from Gaza since Friday. It’s the most intense fighting in the region in months, forcing 500-thousand Israelis into shelters.

Brains or beauty? That’s the question that was recently put to over 1,100 women aged 18 to 25 in an online survey. The shocking part? Nearly half said they’d rather up their cup size than IQ’s! A quarter of them said bigger breasts would make them happier, and SIXTY percent felt that a bigger cup size would make them more attractive to men.
